I don’t know what it is, but I’ve been so lucky this year. All our brides have been amazing people, very easy going, and our grooms have really stepped it up.
Jessica and Cale were no exception. It’s such a great experience when the groom is enjoying himself and doesn’t mind having his photo taken, and when he puts in the effort to make his girl look and feel great. It’s an even better experience when he dotes on her and gives a strong reaction when he sees her for the first time. Cale was awesome. He even remembered “the nuzzle” from his engagement session. They did so well we got through ALL their couple’s portraits in 10 minutes. Aw, I was so proud of them.
We shot their engagements last summer at a sunrise session in Elenore Tinsley park. It was so humid you could actually see the water vapor through the camera. I wanted nothing more than a clean, crisp wedding day for this sweet couple.
And that wish came true! The weather was PERFECT.
Their first look happened just moments before the ceremony, on the balcony at their venue, The Lodge at Mound Creek. I love the look on Cale’s face when he sees Jessica in her beautiful dress.
Speaking of which….I am so in love with Jessica’s dress. Of course, I love anything tulle, but the color was just as gorgeous, a soft blush that was untraditional- but not TOO untraditional. It was perfection. When she moved, it floated around her. And I’m not sure what kind of flower her maid of honor carried but it was so interesting. I’d never seen anything like it!
Pine trees and evergreens surrounded the ceremony, so it felt like an enchanted forest. One of my favorite moments was, upon walking down the aisle towards Cale, Jessica handed her own mother a flower. Then, as she and Cale walked back down the aisle together, she stopped and handed HIS mother a flower. It was such a sweet gesture. I think this shows what kind of person Jessica is- thoughtful, caring, and kind.
I think that any marriage that starts out as friendship is a strong one and it’s clear that these two really are friends. I’m so happy for Jessica and Cale and I am so thankful I had the opportunity to get to know them and capture their wedding day.
