I’m new to Texas and this was my first spring here. And in spring, Texans go Blue Bonnet crazy. I’d never even heard of these flowers until I’d moved here but apparently they are quite the thing around these parts.
Maryanne and Mina are getting married next year in California but they really wanted to do their engagement session in a field of Blue Bonnets.
So I did my research. It turns out that the flowers were just out of season. A few weeks earlier there were fields of them growing on every mile of the highway between here and Austin, but the unforgiving Texas heat had all but scorched the last of them.
We got lucky and found a small area north of Houston that had a few blooms left and I used a few tricks of camera angles to look make it look like there were a few more. But lesson learned, if I want Blue Bonnets I’ll have to start hunting earlier in the year.
