When Steven and I arrived at Kerstin and Adam’s wedding last week at the Balmorhea Wedding Venue, we honestly asked ourselves what kind of karma this couple had. It wasn’t just that it was raining. It was POURING, like a white sheet of water connected the sky to the earth. Every few minutes brought a new wave of downpour that sometimes blew in sideways. The sky was so dark we needed headlights.
I definitely had to pull out my bag of tricks to create our signature light & airy style! (But you know me, I DO love a challenge!)
The cranky weather threw a wrench in some of our plans for the timeline but luckily we had a bride who really knows how to roll with the punches. We used the cover porch for their first looks and took every advantage of momentary breaks in rain for outdoor photos. One of my favorite moments was when the groomsmen all lined up outside to be a “human shield” to block the guests’ view of the bride while we took a few group photos. They were all such a fun group to work with!
While our couple did have to move their outdoor ceremony into the chapel, our karmic luck took a turn for “awesome” shortly after the couple said I Do.
After hours and hours of rain and dark, dreary skies, the clouds parted just long enough for us to get through family, bridal party and couples pictures! (Thank you weather gods. Thank you, thank you, thank you.)
Congratulations Kerstin and Adam!
