This is Rachel. Nearly a decade ago she was the guinea pig for my first ever boudoir shoot. I knew nothing about posing, lighting, angles, or directing expressions. But Rachel is a badass, and she was kind enough to let me practice on her AND use her images in my portfolio.
She’s let me post her boobs all over the internet 🙂
You could say that Rachel is the reason I’m a boudoir photographer in the first place. We’ve shot together about 5 times now and I learn so much each and every time.
I needed to check out Loft E in Macon, Georgia, my hometown. It’s a natural light studio that rents to photographers, like the Oak Atelier here in Houston. I go home to Macon several times a year and want to be able to offer sessions while I’m in town. So this was the perfect excuse to shoot with Rach again!
Shameless plug time….
Can I just take a moment to say that one thing I hear over and over again from women interested in boudoir is that they don’t think they have the body for it. “I’ve had kids” or “I’m not in my 20s anymore” or “I need to spend 6 months at the gym, then I’ll book a session“.
Listen ladies, none of these things matters as much as you think they do.
Rachel is the mama of a beautiful teenage daughter, so I’ll let you do the math on her age. And she’ll be the first to tell you she doesn’t have time to workout, she’s finishing her bachelors degree and prepping for her masters- all while working full time and being a mom. She’s busy, and she’s what a real woman looks like.
We all have stretch marks. We all have cellulite. We all have jiggly thighs or razor bumps. We all have something. I know I do.
Yet these images are minimally retouched. Because when you start with my Boudoir How to Prepare Guide, and work with good, soft, dimensional lighting, flattering posing techniques, and tried-and-true methods for drawing out the perfect expression, it just WORKS. This is what you get.
I don’t mean to sound sales-y. I hate anything sales-y. I promise you this comes from a good place because I am on a mission in life to create this kind of experience for as many women as possible. There’s something so empowering about boudoir. The day after I delivered her gallery, Rach texted me this:
“I feel so good about myself today!! I am living for those pictures and what an amazing job you did!”
When you feel good about yourself it changes something in you. It makes everything else that much more amazing. When you can look at your boudoir book and see how stunning you are- just the way you are right now- it banishes hangups, inner criticism, and even self-loathing.
Rachel feels good in her skin today because she knows that she’s a goddess- that she’s beautiful, sexy, and definitely a bad ass.
So many of our brides- and their bridesmaids- have told me they really want to do a session, but there’s just this fear holding you back. But you can do this! It’s in you, I assure you.
With everything going on in the world right now, we all need something to look forward to. So let this be the thing you do for YOU. It’s time you splurge on yourself.
