Seriously, I couldn’t have asked for a better setting for an engagement session.
Chantal and Nick are getting married this fall at their home out in the country, in Fullshear, Texas. So, we thought it would also be the perfect place for their engagement shoot, since the property is gorgeous and the sunsets are breathtaking.
The horses were a bonus.
As we were getting started under a tree-lined road, their neighbor, Miles, drove by. So one, Chantal is a knockout, so she attracts attention; and two, she was wearing my favorite blue tulle skirt that maked her look like a princess; and three, we had Jacquelyne, my newest mentee, along with us to learn and develop her skills. So we were a bit of a production 🙂
Miles asked if we would like to take photos by his horses, and I couldn’t believe our good fortune. But that’s country life for you. Everyone’s so kind. That’s because they don’t have to deal with Houston traffic.
So, fun fact. I have a very small fear of horses (not like my debilitating fear of heights, just a mild trepidation). Before Steven and I began dating many a year ago, we were on the set of a photo shoot together. I was the photographer, he was the model, and his co-star was a GIANT horse, which Steven protected me from. It was really sweet.
But Miles’ horses were much smaller, and very tame. I even let one lick my hand. It was weird. I think Jacquelyne got a picture of it, so I’ll add it to the post soon.
And they weren’t camera shy! They flocked around the couple, and seemed pretty curious. We didn’t do too many action shots there, because we didn’t want to scare them away (ok, that’s a lie, I was afraid they’d get spooked and kick us).
After Jacquelyne assisted with a tulle train toss, we went back to the couple’s back yard and cut loose a little bit. Chantal and Nick are a fun, easy couple, and they were pretty much up for any of my crazy ideas. Its easy to see that they love each other, love being together, and make each other laugh, and it was really special to get to be the one to capture that. We were having so much fun, the only reason we stopped is because the sun finally set.
I can’t wait to go back for their wedding soon! It’s going to be a great day.
