It was one part luck and two parts good planning by Dalia, but these photos, taken just last week, have the fresh, vibrant feel of springtime (which I’ve been missing for weeks). That is mostly is due to the joyful connection between Dalia and Pedro.
We took their engagement photos at my favorite spot, Mercer Botanical Gardens, and this time of year the flowers and landscaping aren’t quite as lush as it will be in a few months, though it’s always a great spot for photos no matter what season it is. But Dalia’s bright yellow dress deserved flowers and greenery and luckily there were still a few bushes in bloom.
Dalia and Pedro have a unique relationship, one built on faith and friendship. Fresh-faced Dalia is the farthest thing from superficial as a girl can be, and I dig that. For her proposal, instead of a diamond ring, they exchanged bibles. I think that is so sweet and unique, and it’s the first time I’ve ever heard my couples do that, so for a few of the photos I asked them to pray together. I think those are some of my favorites. They’re intimate, but still joyful.
Pedro and Dalia are both so easy going and I loved spending time getting to know them a little better. There wasn’t a moment in our session when the three of us weren’t cracking up and I know it’s going to be just like that on their wedding day. We’re going to have TONS of fun!
“When my head is strong, but my heart is weak,
I’m full of arrogance and uncertainty
When I can’t find the words, you teach my heart to speak,
You make it real for me And I am running to you baby,
You are the only one who saves me
That’s why I’ve been missing you lately,
‘Cause you make it real for me”
