I need to start investing stock in Tinder because they have brought together so many of our couples. Tinder is the new meet-cute.
Brittany + Joe met in 2016 by a very happy coincidence. They live a few towns apart but one night Joe was in Houston for an Astros game while Brittany was also in Houston meeting a friend for drinks. It’s only for that bit of luck that Tinder matched them, otherwise they would have been too far away from each other. They spent a few weeks chatting via text and getting to know each other, but happened to be vacationing at the same beach during Memorial weekend. That’s when they had their first date.
“Joe insisted I meet him that night at the local bar, Ship’s Wheel. I nervously agreed and we spent the whole night on the dance floor! The rest is history! “
In the summer of 2018 Joe planned a vacation for just the two of them in Destin, Florida to celebrate their birthdays, 2 year dating anniversary, and just vacation in general. “Our first day there, Joe told me he had planned a surprise sunset sailing trip for us that evening. I was so excited, even more so when we arrived and I learned it would be just the two of us! It was absolutely beautiful and I remember being so emotional and thankful that Joe had planned this secret excursion for us! He told me he was so glad I liked the sailing trip, but he was sure to let me know that this was my only surprise on this trip“.
Then he asked her to dance. “I was afraid the Captain of the sailboat wouldn’t like us standing up so I resisted for a second. He convinced me and after just about 30 seconds of dancing he got down on one knee and proposed! The best part was that he was so worried one of us would drop the ring in the water that he ordered a floating key ring and put one on the ring! We had to take this off before he could put the ring on my finger!“
Brittany and Joe were married on February 8, 2020 at the Barn at Four Pines Ranch. One of their good friends got ordained online so that he could perform the service. “Ours was his first wedding to ever officiate and he did AMAZING, plus it meant so much more to us to be married by someone we love rather than a stranger.“
One really special thing they did was create a unity wine box . I’d never seen this before. “Our parents wrote us letters/well wishes for our marriage for us to open on a future anniversary and those were placed inside along with our favorite bottle of wine from Becker Vineyards. Then during the ceremony, Joe and I placed our letters to each other inside and locked it“.
Most Anticipated Moment: For Brittany, it was the First Look with Joe. “I had no idea how he would react, but I knew I wanted that special moment with just him. Ultimately it was me, him, and my bridesmaids because they were peaking through the window we were standing next to!”
Wedding Planning Advice: “Don’t cut cost with the photography or videography – the only things saving me from being sad our big day is over is getting to relive it over and over again with pictures and video!”
