I was scrolling through the Gram a few months ago and came across an image that stopped me in my tracks. It was of this stunning French-inspired wrought iron outdoor cathedral that looked like in belonged in another time. I was gobsmacked to learn that the venue was the Ma Maison, located in Dripping Springs.
Like 20 minutes later I had a styled shoot planned and the A-team assembled.
First I called our amazing planner Brandi, at NXT LVL Weddings and Events. Brandi is so dedicated that she even joined one of our brides when we shot her bridal session! That’s next level (haha, get it?). Seriously though, not many wedding planners will take time out of their busy schedules to come along on a photoshoot.
Then we pulled in Chelsea at Freedom Florals. Chelsea created the flowers for one of my favorite weddings and I love her use of color and texture. She always throws in something unexpected (love the blue tulip!).
Carley Elise Kormash created this dreamy hair and makeup look for our model, Autumn Cafee. All of the other vendors pitched in to create what I know will be one of my favorite styled shoots of all time. I can only describe it as “Enchanted Springtime”, but I’m not very wordy.
What we didn’t realize was how crazy the wind can get in hill country and we were NOT prepared. Those florals are all but nailed to the table and I think it’s a testament to Carley Elise Kormash’s skills that Autumn’s hair and makeup stayed in place. Scroll all the way down to see a behind the scenes of us trying to hold all this sh*t together. It took 8 of us and luckily nothing broke (I think).
I have to thank two very important assistants, without which this gorgeous shoot wouldn’t have happened. First, my sweet hubby Steven who drove me all the way to Dripping Springs. He was my second pair of hands the whole day, and my trusted design assistant. Knowing it would be a super long day we loaded up Archie, our labradoodle, and made it a family affair. Archie was just the best boy, and having them there at our styled shoot mascot definitely enhanced my creativity. I wish I could bring him along to every job now!
